Material Types are used to broadly group your materials into different categories. For example you could have Finished Goods, Intermediate Products and Raw Materials. One possible use for this is where you want to use a different type of label for each of these groups. By default there is a global "system wide" default label template defined in [[System Keys]]. However you can create a special label for any of these groups and define it within the User Defined [[Modules]] database and then use the override option on this screen to choose which label to use.
