Commander4j
Open the latest Commander4j release on GitHub. Scroll down to the heading Assets and click the file that matches your computer. The version number in the file name changes with each release; everything else stays the same.
| Your computer | File to click | Size |
|---|---|---|
| Windows 10 or 11 (nearly everyone) | Commander4j_version_windows-x64_with_jre.exe |
about 200 MB |
| Windows on ARM (Snapdragon laptops) | Commander4j_version_windows-arm64_with_jre.exe |
about 160 MB |
| Mac with an Apple chip (M1, M2, M3, M4) | Commander4j_version_apple_silicon_with_jre.dmg |
about 140 MB |
| Mac with an Intel processor | Commander4j_version_apple_intel_with_jre.dmg |
about 140 MB |
| Linux | Commander4j_version_linux.sh (Java 25 must already be installed) |
about 100 MB |
The files are large because each one includes its own copy of Java. You do not need to install Java separately on Windows or macOS.
Not sure which Mac you have? Click the Apple menu, then About This Mac. If it says Chip: Apple M… choose Apple silicon. If it says Processor: Intel… choose Intel.
Ignore the two other files in the list: c4j_commander4j_web.war is the scanner web application for an Apache Tomcat server (see Installation), and updates.xml is used by the built-in update check.
The website has the same choices as buttons that always point at the newest release: commander4j.com/download.html.
